SUMMARY:National Skills 2019
DESCRIPTION:National Skills 2019 Review\nThe National Skills diving competition recently took place at the Plymouth Life Centre. It is the biggest skills competition. A total of 261 divers took part from 32 clubs. Plymouth divers were out in force representing the club in a supportive manner with a great team spirit.\nIn the youngest category (group E) William Heath won the silver medal – only 1.7 points behind the top spot. Oscar Westbury claimed the 4th medal position and Dylan Philpott just missed out on a medal in 7th.\nEva Lang won a medal for her 6th position out of 24 in the girls D1 group. In the same category Evan Walker for the boys won the silver medal – only 1.7 points away from gold. Alex Whittaker medalled in 6th position and Freddy Parnell finished in 9th.\nThe girls D2 group was huge with 35 competitors. Lily Walker finished in 12th\, Amelie Moor 13th\, Sophie Millmore 24th and Erin Healey was 29th – competing for the first time at this level. In the D2 boys group\, Jake Harrison-Bennetton won the 6th medal place and George Prior finished a respectable 14th out of 23.\nAll of the group C1 girls dived consistently in a strong group of 33 competitors. Madeleine Elliott narrowly missed out on a medal position by 1.5 points to finish 7th. Harlie Stringer was 13th and Tilly Tassart 14th.\nThe only girl for the club in group C2 was Ella-Poppy Cornish who medalled in 4th position out of 23 and was only 1.7 points off bronze. In C2 boys; Alex Snell earned the 4th medal position\, Ben Hall was competing for the first time at National Skills and did well to finish 12th in a tough group of 18.\nLexi Davies\, Rose McCabe and Pheobie Pickering all qualified to compete in the competition but unfortunately had to withdraw due to injury or illness.\nPlymouth Diving would like to sincerely thank the Plymouth Depot of the Co-op\, who donated a cheque for £300 to the club from the Local Community Fund. It was presented by Mr and Mrs Hendrick to head coach; Alex Rochas. This money helped to subsidise the cost of kit required for the competition.\nAll of the young\, up and coming divers are either coached by Tonia Couch\, Fito Gutierrez\, Ashley Hendrick or Ryan Wills.

SUMMARY:World University Games Napoli 2019
DESCRIPTION:World University Games Napoli 2019 Review\nKayleigh Sinclair and Shanice Lobb have just returned home to Plymouth after competing in the 30th World University Games which were held in Napoli. It was a financial struggle to get there but with the help of donations from a Crowd Funding Page they were able to have the opportunity to go and soak up the atmosphere of being at the games. Both divers said it was inspiring and a privilege to be part of team GBR\, the spirit was incredible and they couldn’t have wished for a better experience.\n\nFor Kayleigh the games were her biggest competition to date. She went into it with an open mind and was determined to enjoy it. In the 3m springboard preliminary round Kayleigh finished in a very comfortable 9th position out of 25. The semi-final went even better; finishing 6th out of 18. Kayleigh was the only diver in the final to represent GBR and to finish in 8th place overall was an overwhelming feeling of joyous emotion\, above and beyond her expectation. \nShanice successfully came through the platform preliminary round in 16th place out of 22. Unfortunately for Shanice the semi-final did not go to plan\, she ended up in 15th place out of 18 after a disappointing 2nd dive. Earlier this year she won the bronze medal in the same event at the British National Diving Cup. Despite the result it did not tarnish the experience or atmosphere which was absolutely brilliant and she met some amazing people. The highlight of the trip for Shanice was walking out into a stadium full of thousands of supporters. She said: “The feeling I felt and the memory of that night will be something I will always treasure.” \nBoth Kayleigh and Shanice are grateful for all those around them that made it possible for them to reach this goal and continue to support them\, including their coach at the Plymouth Life Centre – Alex Rochas\, team mates\, family and Plymouth Marjon University. \nIt was definitely an event that will forever be a great memory to both of them.
