SUMMARY:European Champions
DESCRIPTION:Kiev\, European Championships 2019 Review\nPlymouth divers; Emily Martin and Matthew Dixon have just returned home after representing GBR at the European Championships held in Kiev.\nEmily Martin and platform synchro partner; Phoebe Banks from Leeds triumphed in the platform synchro event to win the silver medal – only 5.84 points away from gold. Going into the last round the pair were in second position and retained this by competeing a back two-and-a-half somersaults with one-and-a-half twists for the first time. The fruitful pairing have already won a bronze and gold medal this year in the FINA Grand Prix circuit.\nMatthew Dixon alongside Noah Williams from London\, also medalled in the platform synchro event to claim the bronze. It was a very close competition and they finished only 4.74 points off gold. The pair achieved a personal best score so were incredibly happy with their dives and the result. Earlier this year they won gold together at the British Diving Championships held in Edinburgh.\nIn the mixed 3 metre synchro event Dixon finished in 6th position with Scarlett Mew-Jensen from London. After successfully coming through the preliminary round to qualifiy for the 10 metre individual board\, Dixon finished in 8th position overall – the top British performer. Apart from his fourth dive Dixon scored a very respectable 70 plus points on each dive. One error amongst divers of this calibre was all it took to put him out of the medal positions.\nAlex Rochas who coaches both Martin and Dixon at the Plymouth Life Centre said that both divers had given solid performances. Martin and Dixon contributed 2 of the 6 team medals and GBR finished in 3rd position overall.

SUMMARY:World University Games Napoli 2019
DESCRIPTION:World University Games Napoli 2019 Review\nKayleigh Sinclair and Shanice Lobb have just returned home to Plymouth after competing in the 30th World University Games which were held in Napoli. It was a financial struggle to get there but with the help of donations from a Crowd Funding Page they were able to have the opportunity to go and soak up the atmosphere of being at the games. Both divers said it was inspiring and a privilege to be part of team GBR\, the spirit was incredible and they couldn’t have wished for a better experience.\n\nFor Kayleigh the games were her biggest competition to date. She went into it with an open mind and was determined to enjoy it. In the 3m springboard preliminary round Kayleigh finished in a very comfortable 9th position out of 25. The semi-final went even better; finishing 6th out of 18. Kayleigh was the only diver in the final to represent GBR and to finish in 8th place overall was an overwhelming feeling of joyous emotion\, above and beyond her expectation. \nShanice successfully came through the platform preliminary round in 16th place out of 22. Unfortunately for Shanice the semi-final did not go to plan\, she ended up in 15th place out of 18 after a disappointing 2nd dive. Earlier this year she won the bronze medal in the same event at the British National Diving Cup. Despite the result it did not tarnish the experience or atmosphere which was absolutely brilliant and she met some amazing people. The highlight of the trip for Shanice was walking out into a stadium full of thousands of supporters. She said: “The feeling I felt and the memory of that night will be something I will always treasure.” \nBoth Kayleigh and Shanice are grateful for all those around them that made it possible for them to reach this goal and continue to support them\, including their coach at the Plymouth Life Centre – Alex Rochas\, team mates\, family and Plymouth Marjon University. \nIt was definitely an event that will forever be a great memory to both of them.

SUMMARY:National Age Groups 2019
DESCRIPTION:National Age Group 2019 Review\nA select team of 16 divers from Plymouth have just competed at The National Age Group Championships held in Sheffield. It is the largest national diving competition in England and all of the divers did an admirable job representing the club.\nOn the 1m board the girls in group D just missed out on medals with Amelie Underwood in 4th and Scarlett Colbourne in 5th. Amelie retained her 4th position on 3m but Scarlett upped her game to claim the silver and also won another silver medal for her platform performance. Yvie Tucker scored PB’s on both the 1m and 3m boards with a very respectable score on platform\, which she competed for the first time.\nIn the boys group D 1m event Theo Stevens and Oliver Heath stood alongside each other on the podium. Oliver was ahead of Theo all the way until the final dive when Theo just eased ahead to claim the gold and Oliver the silver. On platform\, Oliver added another silver medal to his collection. Harry Denham vastly increased his PB’s on the 3m board and platform.\nThe girls’ group C category was by far the largest. Competing against 37 divers Ellie Pearce finished 5th on the 1m board. Maia Pearson also delivered some outstanding dives to finish 5th on 3m. Phoebe White gave a consistent platform performance and increased her PB by over 20 points.\nBoys group C was also a large group with some tough competition. All 3 boys; Ben Kearton\, Archie Waines and Jack Kinsman-Moore improved on their PB’s and performed some solid dives.\nThe only diver to represent group B was Lucy Gutierrez-Freeman\, she eventually finished in 7Th position on the 1m board after a tough fought contest where positions changed repeatedly.\nRepresenting Plymouth; Maria Marasescu from Romania claimed the silver medal with teammate Evie McCabe narrowly missing out on the bronze by 2.5 points. Maria improved her medal position to gold in the group A platform event.\nIn the boys group A\, Curtis Yuen from Macau (but representing Plymouth) stormed ahead of fellow competitors to win gold in both the boys group A 1m and 3m competition.\nCoaches for the weekend were Fito Gutierrez\, Ryan Wills and Ashley Hendrick.

SUMMARY:Dresden
DESCRIPTION:Dresden 2019 Review  \nEuan McCabe gave a truly outstanding performance at the Dresden Youth International Meet recently in Germany.  Diving in the group B platform event\, he topped the podium to win gold. This was the first time Euan had competed for GBR and it could not have been more impressive. \nAlthough Euan finished in 3rd position in the preliminary round\, he was in last position out of 12 going into the final; due to the way in which only the points from the first 4 dives are carried forward.  The 13 year old Plymouth diver was unperturbed and with guidance from his experienced coach Sally Freeman he conquered any nerves to deliver a consistent and remarkable round of dives\, which proved to be unbeatable.  He was the only diver in his group to break the 400 point barrier finishing nearly 16 points ahead of the Russian runner up. \nEuan first competed in 2012 and has been building towards diving for GBR ever since\, after showing early potential.  With the support of his parents (Anna and Darren) he trains in excess of 15 hours a week at the Plymouth Life Centre.
