SUMMARY:FINA World Junior Diving Championships
DESCRIPTION:Taking time off from his apprenticeship at Neil Hogarth Building Contractor\,\nPlymouth diver Euan McCabe and Southampton diver Robbie Lee have just\nfinished competing for GBR at the 24 th FINA World Junior Diving Championships\nheld in Montreal\, Canada. With over 250 divers from 40 nations this is a high\nprofile event with the best of the best vying for a podium finish. Pairing up for\nthe platform synchro their synchronisation was on point throughout. Lying in\nfifth place after the third round\, their fourth dive an inward three and a half\nsomersault brought them back into medal contention. Finishing off with a\nsuperb back two and a half somersault with one and a half twists resulted in a\ndeserved silver medal for this established pairing.\nThe final day of the event was the individual group A platform. With only\ntwelve places available for the final\, the preliminary round of 31 divers was\ntough. Euan did extremely well to achieve a place. He was the only diver to\nperform a challenging back three and a half somersault in the pike position and\nfinished in eleventh place in the final.\nAs Euan returns home\, Amelie Underwood prepares to fly out to Montreal to\ncompete at the International CAMO Invitational where she will represent\nEngland. This will be Amelie’s first competition at this level and her family\nalong with Plymouth Diving are proud of her progression and success in being\nselected.\nBoth Euan and Amelie are coached by Sally Freeman at the Plymouth Life\nCentre. Aidan Heslop another diver formerly coached by Sally has now taken\nup residence in Montreal where they have the facilities for him to concentrate\non his High Diving career after huge success on the Red Bull circuit. Last month\nAidan won the British Swimming Outstanding High Diver Award for 2021-2022. \n \n
