Plymouth Diving

Due to the British Championships and in two weeks time, the Armada Cup, there are a number of cancelled training sessions:

Thursday 7th Feb – Adult diving, D Squads, B squad, Novice and Age Group Squads

Friday 8th Feb – D squads, B squad, Novice

Saturday 9th feb – Novice Development, B Squad, Novice, Weeny Squad

Sunday 10th Feb – all squads and Dry Dive

All 1:1′s, Dive 1, Dive 2, Dive 3, Dive 4, Weeny and Talent squad sessions are running on Thursday 7th, but not on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Paid in Full customers have not been charged, DD customers will be reimbursed in March with a reduced DD payment.

The same cancellations apply for the Armada Cup weekend starting the 21st February. All Dive 1-4 sessions and Weeny and Talent squad sessions are also cancelled from 21-24 February.

The March DD’s will be adjusted. No  make-up sessions are available due to Half term being so full already!

As you may all know, the tickets for the British Championships in Plymouth on 8-10 February have been selling fast and some sessions are already sold out.
For people scanning the Ticketmaster website, there has been some confusion over any availability. Just to confirm, IF there are any tickets left they will be selling them on the door but this won’t be known until that time.
Tickets are NOT available from the Life Centre before this time.

The dates for the above events are as follows:
National Skills 4-6 May – Plymouth
National A Groups 11-14 July – Sheffield.
Both competitions are by invitation only and will involve divers from Novice, D, B and Age Group Squads.
We will be looking for volunteers for both events…. marshals and recorders for Skills and Chaperones and Drivers for NAGS.

The British Diving Championships are in town on the weekend of the 8-10 February and we need small people and glamorous girlies to carry medals/flowers and flags.
If you are 5-8 years boy or girl divers, or 14-18 Girl Diver (sorry boys!) we need you for the parades. Uniform will be provided.
The first one will be Friday after school and then Saturday and Sunday.
To give lots of people a chance to take part, we’d need you to sign up for at least one session only and we’ll contact you if we need you for more!
Then you get the chance to rub shoulders with the Olympic team and Junior National Team!!
We’re very sorry, but parents will have to apply on Ticketmaster for tickets to watch or contact me to volunteer themselves for a job also!
For general information, we are not selling the tickets but they should be on sale soon on Ticketmaster!

Plymouth Diving is pleased to present the Armada Cup 2013 at the all new Plymouth Life Centre from 21-24 February.

Once again the countries largest age group competition will showcase all the hard working club divers out there who are preparing for the National Age Group competitions 2013.

This year for the first time we are including synchronised diving for the two age categories 13 and under and 14-18 years.

Close of entries is 30th January at the very latest.

The Plymouth Diving ladies will be on the balcony on Monday 17th December with all kit, calendars, pin badges etc ready to buy!

They will be there between 4.45 and 7.30pm!

Just to confirm, the Christmas Flip n Fun will be the 22nd December from 12.30pm onwards this year.

Entries are available for all divers from Dive 3 and 4 (5.30 and 6.30 classes), Weenies (Tu, Th and Sat) and upwards!

The day will be split with the Dive 3,4 and Weenies starting at about 1.30pm and all the other groups following on!

All competitions are £5 to enter with all divers receiving a medal!

I will have firm training start times nearer to the day – but the D squad and Novice will follow at about 2.30pm and the Age Group, A, B squads at about 4.30pm.

Our youngest divers…Orla and Evangeline enjoying making finals in Luton!

Plymouth Diving recently returned from the Luton Kingfisher Challange 2012 in the brand new Luton 10 metre facility. The programme in Luton is being run by former Plymouth diver, Harry Glover – well done Harry!

The Challenge is a fun competition which runs regular events but also a Pairs Challenge where two divers, one male, one female, one over 15 aqn done under – join together performing three dives each in an eliminator.

The pairs continue through the rounds until they are knocked out – Plymouth dynamic duo – Matthew Dixon and Francesca del Celo finished in third place and picked up some prize money for their efforts as well!

Other great results included two individusal golds for Matthew in Boys 14-15 age group (he’s still 12!), a gold for Shanice Lobb in the girls 14-15 platform event plus a bronze in the 3 metre, two bronzes for Danny Bates in the boys 16+ category, two bronzes for Orla Lynch in the 10/11 category (she’s still 7!) and two bronzes for Aidan Heslop in the boys 10/11 category.

Lots more divers made finals – Evangeline Piper, Bethany Pulleyblank, Ben Bluett, Noah Gargett, Alex Kostov, Ollie Piper and Ashley Hendrick.

We will be doing a raffle, lucky number square game and will be selling glow sticks and, hopefully a tuck shop as well!. Please contact me with name, how many divers and if you are a member etc.!
