Sam Grevett

Sam moved to Australia in May 2008 but keeps and eye on proceedings in Plymouth and continues to maintain the website.

From a Plymouth family which has been involved in diving since the 1930’s. Three generations having dived and officiated to National level

DIVING LIFE

First diver ever from Plymouth to qualify for the National Championships in 1981.
National Age Group Champion in 1983 & 1984. (Travelled to Barnstaple, St Austell and London to train before Central Park was built and even after that, continued to travel to London for expert coaching from Pete Squires).
Quit competitive diving 1987
Brief resurgence in 1995, winning European Masters Championships

COACHING LIFE

Started coaching 1989
Turned full time professional 1992
Qualified in trampolining and diving
Qualified tutor (to train new coaches/teachers)
First international coaching appointment 1997
Coached Plymouth’s first diver ever to make Junior European Team (Katie Butcher, now a coach herself).
World Class Potential Coach (lottery funded programme), 2000 to 2004
Retired from coaching in 2004 to spend more time managing the rapidly expanding diving programme but still heavily involved in coaching during Andy’s frequent absences.

Loves spending time with family, skiing (snow), jet skiing, nice restaurants, technology and writing
Lives with Daughter Lily and Husband Pete Grevett, whose twin brother Rob dived to National level and whose sister Jill coached to National level and now announces at all National Events. They first dated at the age of 14!
